In May 1998 a group of friends with a common interest in birds if prey met together. From this first meeting the new concept of Glantawe Hawking Club was grown. As a social club the early days were spent learning and researching this sport of kings. Sharing skills and knowledge, combining requirements to increase our buying power. Translating official papers from D.E.F.R.A. so we could all understand the rules imposed by government. From these humble beginnings we were determined that this club would be non-political and as friendly as possible. As the club grew so did our needs and purchasing power supplying feeds to club members at discounted rates was one of the first achievements. The education of the public particularly children has been close to the hearts of the club members since the beginning and to this end they have attended and supported many charitable events, fund raisers and schools sharing their knowledge and introducing many to their first one on one contact with a bird of prey. |
